Georgia Tech is now home to one of the most environmentally advanced buildings in the world. The Kendeda Building generates more power than it uses. The 900 solar panels atop the structure also collect rainwater that is treated and used through the building. We saved wood from fallen trees on campus, a 100-year-old church, and even Tech Tower to make tables, benches, and staircases throughout the building. This afternoon, Georgia Tech's steam whistle sounded 28 times in succession, each whistle a tribute to a student or employee we have lost since 2019. A final extended whistle honored all alumni and former staff and faculty who have passed away.
