After eleven years performing in Mexico City, and 3 years of rehabilitation at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Keiko arrived in Iceland, his home country. Before swimming all the way to Norway, he spent a few months at a sea pen built in a bay until he was ready to follow a specific boat. Keiko was taken from Iceland to perform for Marineland, in Ontario, Canada. Kiska, the orca that remains in this facility, was captured during this operation, too. Keiko struggled to adapt and the other orcas bullied him, so he was sent to Reino Aventura, amusement park in Mexico City for $350,000 USD.
