The water in Barton Springs Pool comes from an underground aquifer & stays close to 70 degrees throughout the year. So, the same water that makes us shiver on a hot summer day feels comparatively warm on a cold day in winter. But resident endangered Barton Springs salamanders don't experience these mildly shocking sensations, since they're an aquatic species & don't leave the pool!
