Being told to “stop using ADHD as an excuse” cuts deeper than people realise. Especially when it comes from the ones you expect to understand you. The ones you thought were safe. The ones who claim to love you. What they’re really saying is; fit in. Be quieter. Be easier. Be more “normal.” Make yourself smaller so you don’t inconvenience anyone else. And that hurts, because ADHD isn’t a choice. It’s not a character flaw. It’s not something I can switch off to make other people more comfortable.
