Once the ceramic is glowing hot in the kiln it needs to move into reduction - that’s the flames - they eat the oxygen to burn and change the chemistry of the glaze. You can see it happen! Then when the bauble is re-exposed you can see it changing slowly still. If you freeze or rewind the final parts you will see the rainbows moving in the air.
