Another week of NFL football has brought some milestones to some rookie Texas Longhorns but some surprisingly-poor results for a few others.
This season, Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia has emerged as one of college football's top quarterbacks. As Texas coach Steve Sarkisian put it Monday, "Obviously, the quarterback is the tip of the spear."
Notre Dame's best-case scenario is a 10-2 finish with ranked wins over USC and likely Navy, as long as the unbeaten Midshipmen handle North Texas this weekend. And, in Texas Tech's case, the Red Raiders need to win out and take the Big 12 to guarantee a spot in the playoff.
Texas overcame a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Mississippi State 45-38 in overtime after Arch Manning was injured and Matthew Caldwell threw the winning touchdown pass.
