The Kansas City Royals have traded catcher Freddy Fermin to the San Diego Padres in exchange for two pitchers. Fermin, 30, had batted .255 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 67 games with the Royals this season.

The Padres, after completing a blockbuster trade earlier in the day, reportedly added to their depth at a key position in a trade with the Kansas City Royals.

Padres GM AJ Preller was his usual aggressive self, trading some of his farm system’s best talent to acquire Miller, a dynamic relievers, and a dependable starter in Sears.
