TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A Florida fishing captain who shot and poisoned dolphins was sentenced last week to 30 days in prison, according to First Coast News. Zackery Brandon Barfield, 31, of Panama City, was sentenced to 30 days in prison and was ordered to pay a $51,000 fine.

Charter and commercial fisherman Zackery Brandon Barfield, 31, has been sentenced to one month in prison after shooting and poisoning dolphins who he believed were eating bait from the lines of his clients.

A man was shot multiple times early Tuesday in Florida City and airlifted to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Checkers employee Elijah Mackey, 23, is reported to have climbed out of the drive-thru window and approached the victim before the deadly shooting.
