Only one of either Real Madrid or Manchester City will qualify for the Champions League last 16 after they both had poor league phase campaigns and face each other in the playoffs.

The UEFA Champions League returns Tuesday, Feb. 11 with the first set of knockout stage playoff games. The first legs will wrap up Wednesday, Feb. 12 with the return fixtures taking place a week later.

Three of the four Premier League clubs managed a top eight finish, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa impressing, but Manchester City must face Real Madrid in the play-off. While there is much to still be decided, the big changes to the format this season mean that the clubs already in the last 16 have an idea of who they will face there.
