PORTLAND, Maine — Police in Portland are investigating after two men were found dead Monday morning in a wooded area of the city. Police said they received the call about the discovery around 7:40 a.m., according to a post the agency shared on social media. The bodies were located in the woods behind the Hannaford on Riverside Street.

PORTLAND, Maine (WGME) -- Police are investigating after two bodies were found in the woods in Portland on Monday. Police say the bodies were discovered in the woods behind Hannaford on Riverside Street around 7:40 a.m. The bodies have been identified as 57-year-old William Liese and 44-year old Lee Thomas Johnson.

There was a significant police presence in the woods off Riverside Street in Portland early Monday morning. A Maine’s Total Coverage crew saw several Portland Police cruisers and officers, as well as a police supervisor in the woods behind and between the former Tortilla Flat restaurant and Hannaford.
