That obviously hasn't happened, as a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder sustained in the 2024 World Series threw off his offseason rehab timetable.

It has been over a year since Shohei Ohtani last operated as a two-way player for the Los Angeles Dodgers, but it sounds like he is on the verge of returning to that role.

According to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani will throw a simulated game in the coming days, and it could "potentially" be his last. Ohtani could also join the pitching rotation "sooner rather than later," possibly within the next week.
