You can’t watch the trailer for Pedro Pascal’s new movie Freaky Tales and not think of the 1990s. Mainly that’s because the film is set right on the cusp of the decade, 1987, but also the idea of a violent, weird, sprawling single California city almost-anthology brings to mind one of the best films of the decade: Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.

One of the more recent beloved sketches that was featured prominently was "Domingo," with Marcello Hernández, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman, Chloe Fineman, and Andrew Dismukes once again reprising their roles.

SNL50 brought back Domingo for another Bridesmaid Speech, with special guests Sabrina Carpenter, Pedro Pascal and Bad Bunny.

Described as a "pulpy blend of explosive action, edgy humour, gory kills, and sly twists", Freaky Tales garnered generally positive reviews upon its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, with the consensus being that its creative style outweighed any narrative drawbacks.

In a twist on the show’s bridesmaids sketch, Pascal popped up as Reinaldo, a dreamy and rugged man who tempted the “not bi” groom during his boys’ trip. (They “did hook up, though!”) Even Sabrina Carpenter was charmed, and the daddy memes have been unceasing.
