The Commodores lost two starters from the 2025 team to the portal, but most of the other portal entrants were backups. However, Vanderbilt is also losing several starters who are out of eligibility.

Jafar Williams, the assistant wide receivers coach for Vanderbilt football, is leaving to be the wide receivers coach at Georgia Tech, according to a report from 247Sports. Williams previously worked at Temple, Virginia Tech and Maryland. He is a Philadelphia native.

Sports are thriving at Vanderbilt under the watch of athletic director Candice Lee, a former basketball player for the Commodores.

The 11 AM tipoff and the threat of winter weather did nothing to restrain Vanderbilt in Saturday’s visit to Starkville, Mississippi, as the Commodores snapped a three-game losing streak by beating Mississippi State 88-56.

Vanderbilt has secured five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, a Nashville native, following a program revival led by head coach Clark Lea and quarterback Diego Pavia.
