Cory Hawkes, who had fished those waters his whole life without seeing a great white shark, was moving from offshore to inshore when he saw something unusual.

The 18-year-old was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say he was bitten on the foot. This is the fourth shark bite in New Smyrna Beach this year.
