Penn State interim head coach Terry Smith lamented a "very disappointing loss" on Saturday to Iowa in the Nittany Lions' first game after James Franklin's firing.

IOWA CITY – Penn State did not go down without a fight. But the Nittany Lions’ losing streak is at four games after Iowa erased an 11-point deficit in the second half to edge PSU 25-24 on Saturday night at Kinnick Stadium.

Iowa quarterback Mark Gronowski rushed for a career-high 130 yards and two touchdowns, and Kaden Wetjen scored the go-ahead touchdown on an 8-yard run with 3:54 to play, as the Hawkeyes defeated Penn State 25-24 on Saturday night.

After falling to Notre Dame, No. 21 USC fell out of the top 25, though it still 52 votes. Iowa earned 17 votes after its win against Penn State. Washington is still clinging onto three votes despite a 24-7 loss to Michigan. Northwestern won its fourth straight game and snuck in with one vote in this week's poll.
