GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The South Rim Fire burned 1,640 acres as of 11:00 p.m. on Thursday according to the InciWeb. The fire started around 11:30 a.m. and was caused by a lightning strike.
The Grand Canyon National Park is also under an extreme heat warning through the weekend, with temperatures expected to reach 115 degrees in low elevations.
