DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Foreign ministers from Muslim nations on Saturday rejected calls by U.S. President Donald Trump to empty the Gaza Strip of its Palestinian population and backed a plan for an administrative committee of Palestinians to govern the territory to allow reconstruction to go ahead.

The Egyptian-crafted alternative to Trump's widely condemned takeover proposes to rebuild the Gaza Strip under the future administration of the Palestinian Authority.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on Friday endorsed Egypt's counter-proposal to US President Donald Trump's colonialist-style plan to take over Gaza and displace the Palestinians from their land.
