Lebanon's premier office issues a statement announcing the extension of the November 2023 ceasefire and the negotiation about the freedom of the prisoners.

The initial ceasefire plan, announced in late November, brought an end to 14 months of conflict between Israel and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah. Brokered by the US and France, the agreement gave Hezbollah 60 days to end its armed presence in southern Lebanon and required Israeli forces to withdraw over the same period.

Lebanon and Israel have agreed to extend the deadline for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon until February 18, 2025, with the confirmation coming from the United States.
