WASHINGTON, May 7 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump made a surprise visit on Thursday to inspect renovations to the Lincoln Memorial's reflecting pool, one of several high-profile projects the former real estate developer is pursuing across the nation’s capital as he seeks to leave a visible mark on Washington.

President Donald Trump asked a federal appeals court to pause its ruling rejecting his challenge to E. Jean Carroll’s $83 million defamation case against him as he looks to take the case to the Supreme Court.

The tariffs were put in place in February, days after the Supreme Court struck down President Trump's previous round of sweeping "Liberation Day" tariffs.

Trump-Lula Meeting: President Trump met with Brazil’s president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, at the White House to discuss trade, crime and critical minerals.
