The Flesby II concept car unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show was designed by Japanese automotive supplier Toyoda Gosei with airbags on the outside of it to cushion pedestrians in a collision.
The Flesby II is a turtle-like concept that uses an "e-rubber" exterior shell to protect pedestrians, communicate with other road users and change shapes.
The "Flesby II" is equipped with external airbags to protect against fender benders.
Flesby II is very definitely for now just a concept car, however the company claims that the technology its developing could end up in some early production vehicles by the 2030s.
