A new Marvel blockbuster is finally here, but is it worth staying after the credits of Captain America’s latest adventure?

The fourth "Captain America" movie, starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, has one end-credits scene that alludes to the future of the MCU.

While Steve Rogers is Marvel's original Captain America, Sam Wilson is the only character to hold the title officially in the MCU in the present day.

A brave new world needs an all-new Captain America. And when Captain America: Brave New World soars into theaters on Feb. 14, it will be Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) slinging the star-spangled shield as the Sentinel of Liberty following the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Many of the faces in Captain America: Brave New World haven’t been on screen since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk which starred Edward Norton in the role of Bruce Banner, later recast with Mark Ruffalo when The Avengers (2012) came out and the Marvel Cinematic Universe took off.

“We know people miss the Avengers and we miss the Avengers,” says Nate Moore, a veteran producer at Marvel Studios and one of the guiding hands behind the fourth Captain America film. “But we knew if we jumped right back into the Avengers after Endgame, we wouldn't give people a chance to miss it.”

Is a movie really an installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe if it doesn’t have at least one post-credits scene? Directed by Julius Onah, “Captain America: Brave New World,” out Friday, kicks off the ever-expanding franchise’s attempt to return to form.
