The Michigan football team is looking for its QB in the 2027 recruiting class, and a commitment could be coming soon.

Underwood, who turns 18 later this month, has not officially been named the starting quarterback yet. But, with graduate transfer Mikey Keene having dealt with an upper body injury this offseason, Underwood has the inside track to QB1 for Week 1.

Landing J.J. McCarthy in the 2021 class proved to be a signature moment, with the five-star prospect developing into arguably the most successful quarterback in program history. The Wolverines have landed several other highly regarded signal-callers in the past 10 cycles, but few turned out to be difference-makers in a Michigan uniform.
