Scientists directed NASA’s Perseverance rover to take an image of the Martian sky after a solar storm in hopes that an aurora would show up

The science team behind Perseverance wanted to know whether that glow from the Mars aurora could be seen in the visible spectrum.

For the first time, scientists have captured the visible green lights of an aurora from the surface of Mars. The spectacle shined uniformly across the whole Martian night sky, distinct from the way auroras glow in more localized and varied patterns on Earth.
