When Denton Ryan’s Ty Haywood was in eighth grade and living in Mississippi, an athletic trainer told him some discouraging words that made him want to quit football. He considered joining the Army, in hopes of training to be a sniper.

The wait is over for one the top remaining uncommitted prospect in the 2025 class. Four-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood announced his commitment to Michigan on Wednesday's National Signing Day, giving the Wolverines a massive recruiting victory to close out the cycle.

When hired to be the new head coach of Michigan football nearly a year ago, Sherrone Moore vowed to make both recruiting and NIL a priority. And one full cycle in, he's managed to do both. Moore was already building an impressive class before he managed to land five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola and five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood in just a few weeks' time.

Haywood, a 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman from Denton (Texas) Ryan, made it official during a ceremony at his high school on Wednesday morning, the first day of the national signing period. Michigan now has 24 commitments to the 2025 class, including 14 who enrolled early.

It's college football national signing day and the best recruit available, No. 20 ranked Ty Haywood, has signed with the Michigan Wolverines.

If the Wolverines can close with Haywood, they would finish with four top-50 recruits. They didn’t sign any the previous two cycles. Haywood has 33 reported offers and also took official visits to Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas A&M and TCU earlier in his recruitment.
