James Gunn, the director of Superman and co-CEO of DC Studios, recently gave fans a glimpse behind the scenes of Peacemaker Season 2. The filmmaker shared a lighthearted photo from the set. It features him alongside two of the show’s newest cast members.

Instead, the Peacemaker season two finale goes a few scenes further. Half the credit for the version we saw last night goes to Gunn, of course, as he wrote it. The other half goes to Peter Safran, and not just because he and Gunn are 50/50 partners in this whole revived-DCU thing.

Just like in Peacemaker, the comics version of Checkmate is an offshoot of Amanda Waller’s Task Force X. Peacemaker, Vigilante, and Sasha Bordeaux have all been part of the organization, as have Suicide Squad members Deadshot and Deathstroke, and Batman mainstay Harvey Bullock.
