A week after getting drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the seventh round of the 2025 MLB Draft, former Florida left-handed pitcher Pierce Coppola has signed his pro contract, according to a report by Carlos Collazo of Baseball America.

The Chicago Cubs opted for experience and upside in the 2025 MLB Draft, adding over a dozen college players to their pipeline from the draft.

MLB draft begins Sunday, and the White Sox and Cubs each have 20 picks. And a Whitney Young alum could be a first-round selection.

Pierce Coppola was the third Florida Gator off the board in the 2025 MLB draft. He's headed to the Chicago Cubs, pending his contract signing.

After not being selected in the 2025 MLB draft, Alabama Crimson Tide right-handed pitcher Braylon Myers has now reportedly signed as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Cubs. Myers joins fellow Alabama teammate Kade Snell in heading to Chicago, as the outfielder was previously selected by the Cubs in the fifth round of the 2025 MLB draft.

Former Troy catcher Brooks Bryan was also drafted on Monday, going to the Kansas City Royals in the eighth round.
