The Boise State Broncos and Idaho Vandals will once again clash on the football field. For the first time in 16 years, BSU and UI fans have a football game to look forward to — even if it's still five years away.

In a historic announcement at the Idaho state capitol, Governor Brad Little announced that the Idaho Vandals and Boise State Broncos will renew their football rivalry in a game scheduled for Sept. 6, 2031, in Boise.

One of the most storied rivalries in Idaho college football is officially back on. On Thursday morning, Governor Brad Little signed Executive Order 2006-02, officially reinstating the Idaho Governor’s Trophy after a two-decade hiatus.

Boise State and the Idaho Vandals last played football in 2010. The game is back on the calendar, but fans still face a bit of a wait.

The schools last met Nov. 12, 2010 at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, when Kellen Moore-led Boise State beat Idaho 52-14, when both were members of the FBS Western Athletic Conference.

Boise State and Idaho will renew their long‑dormant football rivalry with a matchup scheduled for the 2031 season in Boise.
