Pharmaceutical company AvKare has issued a voluntary recall on several of its over-the-counter products for dry and irritated eyes, citing regulatory "deviations" identified during an audit by the Food and Drug Administration .

More than 1.8 million eye drop bottles distributed nationwide are being recalled because the products may not be sterile. AvKARE issued the voluntary recall for 1,819,080 cartons of eye drops in 75,795 cases.

The FDA and AvKare have reported a recall of eye care products, including drops and artificial tears, from BRS Analytical Service.
