Avelo Airlines is pulling out of Glacier Park International Airport, along with a slew of other airports across the West. Avelo provides seasonal service between the Flathead Valley and two California destinations: Burbank's Hollywood Burbank Airport to the south and Sonoma's Charles M.
Breeze plans to enter Burbank and launch service on four of the eight routes that Avelo will discontinue. It will begin flying to Eureka, Calif.; Pasco, Wash.; and Bend and Eugene in Oregon next March. The carrier will fly a fifth route from Burbank to to Provo, Utah.
While Avelo will no longer serve the western US, the airline will continue to serve what Goff called an east coast network of over 40 cities both domestic and international that will extend from Manchester, New Hampshire in the northeast to the Dominican Republic and Cancun to the south and as far west as Dallas and Chicago.
Avelo Airlines customers can get refunds on canceled flights by visiting Avelo's website or contacting customer support. Public responses reflect mixed sentiments about the airline's reliability and service.
Avelo said leaving Burbank was unrelated to its controversial contract with ICE. Backlash against the contract nor the contract itself has impacted Avelo’s business, the carrier said.
After Avelo Airlines operates its last flight out of Sonoma County on Aug. 11, people will still have choices if they want to travel nonstop Southern California and other destinations from Santa Rosa.
