Aaron Nola is coming off his best start of his season, and Philadelphia Phillies manager Don Mattingly is giving him some high praise.

MIAMI — Kyle Schwarber took a changeup in the dirt to snap his streak of eight consecutive strikeouts. He dropped his bat and peeked at the dugout, where teammates applauded and banged the padded railing.

The Phillies have appointed Don Mattingly as interim manager, despite his initial reluctance. Alex Cora considered for managerial role but opts for a break.

The Philadelphia Phillies began the year off terribly, dropping 10 games in a row at one point, and causing Rob Thomson to be fired. But, since Thomson's firing, and Don Mattingly took over, things have been trending in the right direction.

Don Mattingly knows how important John Sterling was to the New York Yankees, the team for which he gave his all as a player, and now as a manager, he knows that the former broadcaster’s passing is a heavy blow to all of baseball.
