Duking it out on social media, Senate Majority Leader John Thune announced Tuesday the Senate will vote this week on a blueprint that Speaker Mike Johnson has dismissed as a “non-starter” in the House.

Mr. Trump’s call for “one big beautiful bill” came just hours after he gave conflicting directions to congressional Republicans on cuts to social safety net programs.
