Three people, including a baby, were killed in a shooting Sunday night at an annual festival and carnival held in West Valley City, Utah, during a dispute between two groups of people.
Police were already on scene at the festival when they noticed tensions rising between two groups there. They walked over to de-escalate the situation when a 16-year-old man pulled out a gun and started firing.
The shooting happened on the final night of WestFest, a celebration of the multiple cultures in West Valley City.
The other victims were an 18-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, the police said. The gunfire stemmed from a verbal altercation.
