Unionized King Soopers workers in Broomfield, Boulder and Louisville will join their fellow United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 members from around the Denver metro area in a two-week strike beginning at 5 a.

Kim Cordova, president of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7, has said staffing is one of the major issues for employees.

In a series of votes Saturday, union employees at King Soopers in Pueblo joined employees in other cities across Colorado in authorizing a strike.

King Soopers employees across metro Denver authorized a strike on January 30. Workers in Colorado Springs and Pueblo will consider doing the same this weekend.

The times, dates and locations for the planned labor action by employees for the Kroger-owned chain in Colorado have not yet been set.

Union employees at Pueblo's two King Soopers grocery stores voted Feb. 1 to approve a strike, joining their fellow United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 members in solidarity in claiming unfair labor practices by the stores' Kroger-owned leadership.

Grocery workers at many King Soopers locations across the Front Range will begin striking Thursday, the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 announced Monday morning.

Approximately 10,000 Colorado grocery store workers at 77 stores will begin a two-week strike at 5 a.m. on Thursday.
