Tyrese Maxey identified Jared McCain as one of the Sixers who needs to step up during Paul George's 25-game suspension.

After less than two seasons with the Sixers, Jared McCain is saying goodbye to the City of Brotherly Love. In what is one of the biggest surprises of the 2026 trade deadline so far,the Sixers traded McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for the Houston Rockets’ 2026 first-round pick and three second-round picks.

On Friday, less than 24 hours removed from the trade deadline and a road loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, in which the Sixers shot 5 of 24 from deep, president of basketball operations Daryl Morey admitted Philadelphia sent McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder in hopes of making an additional deadline deal.

McCain's sudden exit from Philadelphia has incited an emotional reaction; the youngster understandably became a fan favorite very quickly. But things change very quickly in the NBA, and with Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe locked into heavy-minute roles in the Sixers' backcourt for years to come, McCain clearly fell out of favor.

The 76ers agreed to trade Gordon and a 2032 second-round pick swap to the Grizzlies on Thursday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Gordon hasn't appeared for Philadelphia since Dec. 23, so the move doesn't seem to have a major impact on the fantasy landscape.
