Power went down Monday afternoon in vast areas of Spain, crossing over into Portugal and France, causing widespread outages in homes and businesses and bringing transportation infrastructure to a halt. Lisbon, Madrid, Seville, Barcelona, and Valencia are reportedly affected. The outage began at around 12:30PM CET.

A countrywide power outage impacted Spain—as well as swaths of Portugal and smaller portions of France—Monday afternoon, affecting essential services and wreaking chaos across the Iberian Peninsula. The cause of the outage is currently being investigated by Spanish and Portuguese officials and ministers.

Spain, Portugal, France and Andorra suffered power outages on April 28, but not Belgium, Greece and the Netherlands, contrary to online claims.
