Lancaster County is now under a tornado watch in addition to being under a flood watch Friday night. The tornado watch includes Adams, Lancaster and York counties and is in effect until midnight. This is issued when conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and close to the watch area, according to the National Weather Service.

A tornado warning was issued in several Maryland and Virginia areas on Friday. The National Weather Service (NWS) alerted residents in Laurel, Silver Spring, and Baltimore. The Washington, DC area is also under a tornado watch. This comes amid intense thunderstorms sweeping through the Mid-Atlantic.
