The Kozeal homecoming symbolizes a link to Omaha’s CWS history. Matt Kozeal assisted with game operations at Rosenblatt, starting in 2005, and he worked on the grounds crew in 2009 and 2010 to ready the field for CWS participants and the primary Rosenblatt tenants, the Triple-A Omaha Royals.
Peterson and Kozeal were born in Omaha. While Kozeal helped his dad as part of the grounds crew at Charles Schwab Field, the site of the College World Series since 2011, Peterson was in the seats every June that he could remember, even further back to the days of Rosenblatt Stadium, the former CWS site.
