OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma could extend its record run of consecutive national titles to five at this year’s Women’s College World Series. Patty Gasso’s second-seeded Sooners will face No. 7 seed Tennessee in their WCWS opener. Oklahoma beat Alabama on Saturday to win the Norman Super Regional.
Junior shortstop Leighann Goode hit a rocket over the left field wall to score two runs and give Texas an early lead. After several mental mistakes and an error at shortstop in game one, Goode was inserted into the role Friday and provided a major spark for Texas, both offensively and defensively.
