New York Governor Kathy Hochul's top deputy is running to primary her in next year's gubernatorial race. New York Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado announced his candidacy on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday afternoon. "New York, I'm not here to play the game," Delgado said. "I'm here to change it. I'm running to be your next Governor."

New York Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado is challenging his boss, Gov. Kathy Hochul, in the Democratic primary next year.

Delgado and Hochul, who appointed him to the No. 2 job in 2022, had appeared publicly at odds over several issues during the past year.
