Vivian Spohr, the wife of Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, released a statement following the death of a 24-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle in Sardinia.

Vivian is being investigated for suspected road homicide. Authorities are also checking whether she may have been using her mobile phone at the time of the crash.

The incident occurred Tuesday in the coastal commune of Porto Cervo, when Spohr, 51, reportedly hit Gaia Costa, a babysitter, as she was crossing the road at a zebra crossing.
