A federal judge has for now extended a pause on the deadline set by the Trump administration for federal workers to accept a deferred resignation offer and temporarily prohibited the government from soliciting more so-called buyouts.

U.S. District Judge George A. O’Toole Jr. said the pause would continue until he rules on a preliminary injunction in the case.

A federal judge in Massachusetts said the program would continue to be on hold until he issued a ruling. The government had set a new deadline of Monday night for workers to sign up.
