The extent of Thursday’s flooding has been so shocking to people across the city that some people are comparing it to the historic and catastrophic 1998 floods in San Antonio.

Residents across Central Texas are left with with damaged property after the area experienced record-breaking rain, dangerous winds and a short-lived tornado on Thursday, June 12. With heavy rain pouring in overnight and throughout Thursday afternoon, Bexar County, the City of Live Oak, the City of Converse announced park closures due to weather and flooding.

As of 7:50 a.m. customers are dealing with power outages all around the city, with upwards of 50 outages reported near Garden Ridge, 40-plus near Wurzbach Parkway, and more than 20 near downtown. Currently, the CPS Energy outage map does not state the time of restoration.
