Superman may not be overly interested in laying seeds and dropping teases for future movies, but we do have to wonder if Gunn is telegraphing the villain of a potential Superman 2. It all has to do with the open-ended fate of one character.

Gunn's secret to success isn't as elaborate as a Fortress of Solitude or as diabolical as a chunk of glowing Kryptonite. Rather, his approach seems to be something his contemporaries at Marvel and WB might have forgotten.
