Japan's Honda Motor forecast a 59% profit decrease in the current financial year and said it would put on hold a plan to build an EV supply chain in Canada, amid the uncertainty stemming from U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs.

Honda Motor Co. is expecting a ¥450 billion ($3 billion) hit to its full-year profit as it braces for the fallout of US President Donald Trump’s auto tariffs, joining rivals reeling from the trade war.

For the financial year ended March, Honda posted revenue of 21.69 trillion yen ($146.63 billion), marking a 6.2% year-on-year increase. Operating profit fell 12.2% to 1.21 trillion yen ($8.18 billion), while net profit declined 24.5% to 835.84 billion yen ($5.65 billion).
